Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced that that it has bolstered its Executive Compensation and Benefits Practice with the addition of George F. O’Donnell who will serve as a Managing Director in Greenwich, CT. An expert in structuring compensation programs for senior management and outside directors, O’Donnell’s legal and accounting background strengthens A&M’s offering for professional services firms.
O’Donnell brings to A&M more than 30 years of employee benefits consulting experience. His expertise includes funding executive benefit programs; establishing and managing captive employee benefit arrangements; redeploying excess pension assets; funding post-retirement health programs and resolving employee benefits compliance controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor.
For 15 years, O’Donnell was at Aon, where he was a S.V.P. in Aon Hewitt and later was Technical Director of Aon Global Risk Consulting. He established and led Aon’s captive employee benefits consulting practice, successfully implementing numerous captive programs for employee group health, disability, and life insurance. Prior to joining Aon, he was at Actuarial Sciences Associates, where he arranged and executed the release of excess assets from several very large retirement and welfare benefit plans sponsored by major telecommunications companies.
O’Donnell holds JD and Masters in Actuarial Science degrees from the University of Michigan, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Michigan State University. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.
