Filipino Community Center Bankrupt

The privately-held Filipino Community Center, Inc. (dba FilCom) filed for Chapter 11 protection from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the District of Hawaii, case number 18-00109. The Company is headed by Executive Director Franz D. Juan and is based in Honolulu, Hawaii. The FilCom Center is located in Waipahu, Hawaii. The Company is represented in bankruptcy proceedings by Chuck C. Choi of Choi & Ito.

On to its corporate website, FilCom explains, “Our mission is to develop, own and operate a community center that provides social, economic and education services and to promote and perpetuate Filipino culture and customs in the state of Hawai’i.” According to documents filed with the court, the Company cites estimated assets and liabilities at $1 to $10 million. In addition, funds will be available for distribution to unsecured creditors.
