Privately-held H N Hinckley & Sons, Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 protection with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the District of Massachusetts, case number 18-10398. The Company is headed by President Wayne M. Guyther III and is based in Vineyard Haven, MA. It is represented in bankruptcy proceedings by Adam J. Ruttenberg of Posternak Blankstein & Lund LLP.

According to its website, “Hinckley Home Center was founded by the Hinckley family in 1872 and has been in continuous operation for 139 years. Hinckley Home Center and Vineyard Home Center, serving all of Cape Cod and the Island of Martha’s Vineyard, offer anything one needs to decorate, restore, rebuild or construct. Whether you are a professional, own a commercial business, or are a home owner you will find what you need, competitively priced, with free advice and delivery to do what you need to do.” It sums up its mission as follows: “A resource dedicated to common success; through initiative, innovation, knowledge, consistency.”

The Company recently filed a motion with the Court to ensure that pre-petition wages be paid to its 12 employees. In other filings, Hinckley cites estimated assets and laibilities at $1 to $10 million.
