iHeartMedia – Seeks Appointment of Fee Examiner

October 19, 2018 – iHeartMedia requested a Court order directing the appointment of a fee examiner (“Fee Examiner”) [Docket No. 1638] and establishing procedures for consideration of requested fee compensation and reimbursement of expenses. The Debtors state, “The Debtors and the Committee have retained several professionals to assist them in navigating the many complex issues in these chapter 11 proceedings. Compensation of such professionals must be reasonable… While ensuring compliance often falls primarily on the Debtors and United States Trustee for the Southern District of Texas (the ‘U.S. Trustee’), given the magnitude of these chapter 11 cases, the Debtors have determined that appointment of a fee examiner to assist with these efforts is appropriate. Early in these chapter 11 cases, the U.S. Trustee indicated it would be prudent to consider the appointment of a fee examiner. Heeding the U.S. Trustee’s request, the Debtors began to explore alternatives that would ensure compliance with the Interim Compensation Order and U.S. Trustee Guidelines in the most effective and efficient manner to maximize the value of the Debtors’ estates. In May 2018, the Debtors began discussions with the Committee and the U.S. Trustee with respect to the examination of fees incurred in the chapter 11 cases. These discussions resulted in the decision to seek the appointment of the Fee Examiner and approval of the procedures embodied in the Order.”
