March 31, 2011 – Oak Point Partners acquired the remnant assets of the Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. Bankruptcy Estate in March 2011. On September 1, 2004, Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. and its related entities (“Acclaim Entertainment”) filed a chapter 7 petition in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York, assigned Case No. 04-85595. A Trustee was appointed to wind down the Acclaim Entertainment estate.
About Acclaim Entertainment, Inc.
Founded in 1986, Acclaim Entertainment was a video game developer, publisher and marketer for hardware platforms and PC systems. As a small-time video game publisher, the drought of smash-hit titles forced the company to file for bankruptcy. Acclaim was the first video game company to have an in-house motion capture studio. A few games published by Acclaim include: WWF WrestleMania, Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Burnout, and ATV Quad Power Racing. Games were mostly targeted at teens. At its height, the company employed 600 people and operated in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Australia, and Japan.
Acclaim Entertainment also operated under several trade names including Iguana Entertainment and LJN Toys.
The former headquarters of Acclaim Entertainment was located in Glen Cove, NY.
