November 30, 2010 – Oak Point Partners acquired the remnant assets of the Brook Mays Music Company Bankruptcy Estate in November 2010. On July 11, 2006, Brook Mays Music Company and its related entities (“Brook Mays Music”) filed a chapter 11 petition in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, assigned Case No. 06-32816. The case was subsequently converted to a chapter 7 bankruptcy and a trustee was appointed to liquidate the estate’s assets.
About Brook Mays Music Company
Founded in 1901, Brook Mays Music was a retailer of musical instruments, sheet music, and supplies for individuals and schools. The company operated 62 stores in eight states. Starting its business selling pianos, the company grew to become the largest such dealer in its region. The company was also the only major music company to survive the Great Depression in its area.
Brook Mays Music also operated under several trade names including H & H Music and Kurland-Salzman Music Co.
The former headquarters of Brook Mays Music was located in Santa Fe Springs, CA
